DNA Breed Determination Special

With more families choosing to adopt mixed breeds from animal shelters, our interests into what breeds came together to create that ear that won't quite stand up or the long curly tail.  Thanks to human-grade technology, your veterinarian can now tell you!

Besides being able to proudly proclaim your pet's genetic make-up, DNA testing also gives your veterinarian insight on how to provide optimal care for your pet.  For instance, hip dysplasia is a condition where the hip joints of certain dogs are abnormal, causing discomfort.  We often see hip dysplasia in labrador retrievers and lab mixes.  If we know that your pet is part lab, we can use preventative measures to keep the hips as healthy as possible.

Knowing what breed or breeds of dogs you are working with can also explain certain behaviors and make behavior training easier.  Border collies are working dogs - they were bred to herd animals and are very active companions.  By providing plenty of exercie and evne agility training, some destructive behaviors caused by nervous boredom can be avoided, keeping both you and your dog happy.

Perky Paws is proud to offer this technology to you and your pet!  The week of September 19 through 23, Perky Paws will be offering $25 off the testing.  The lab analyzing your pet's test also offers a $25 mail-in rebate for a total of $50 in savings!  Feel free to give us a call to schedule an appointment today!
